EMPLOYMENT SERVICES FOR YOUTH AND FAMILIES ENROLLED IN WRAPAROUND MILWAUKEE/REACH/PROJECT O-YEAH/FISS

WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM

 

The Work Experience Program is volunteer/permanent employment opportunities for teens aging 15 1/2 to 19 and parents seeking to be hired in less than 90 days of employment.


The program will allow our participants to earn-and-learn through a job site placement position with a partnered employer and an opportunity to obtain permanent employment after 90 days. This will allow participants to receive the necessary job training and development to obtain stable employment.

Participants will receive soft skill job coaching 1:1 or in a group setting, job planning, resume building, mock interviewing, job assessment for placement, tax preparation, effective communication, personality test, computer literacy, engagement with a financial institute, paycheck withholding, personal appearance, conflict resolution, public transportation, and more.  

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

  • Students cannot have no more than 10 absences or tardy's
  • Students should be making adequate progress in school
  • Must possess a willingness to work while attending school
  • Must be referred by one of the referring agencies 
  • Background checks will be conducted on adult participants


Volunteer Placement vs Job Placement?

  • Volunteer Placements are intended to provide participants who are not job ready, with an opportunity to practice work habits and skills that are necessary to succeed in any regular job environment. A Volunteer Placement participant may engage in work training activities up to 40 hours per week during summer hours.

  • Job Placement is contracted between Mount Castle and the partnered employer. These jobs are permanent positions and are intended to provide work experience and training to assist the employee to move promptly into unmonitored employment.
